One roll-top bag from the gym floor to the base of the wall. Chalk stays in. Shoes, brushes and a layer ride along. Everything you need to go further than you went last season.

Chalk Bag CRACX Ascend
One bag from the gym floor to the base of the wall. Roll the top down onto its magnets and the chalk stays inside — your car, your gear and your phone stay clean. Open it up and it takes your chalk supply, brushes, tape and a layer.
- Magnetic roll-top — closes with one chalked-up hand
- Wide two-hand mouth, felt-lined, stands open on the mat
- Three brush loops — 2.5 / 2 / 2 cm, sized differently on purpose
- 8.5 cm mesh pocket + a dedicated slot for liquid chalk
- Waist belt for the boulder, shoulder strap for the walk in
- Water-repellent nylon — light rain beads up and runs off

The best fruit was never on the low branch
Before grades, before shoes, before anyone told you there was a right way to do it — there was a tree with something good at the top of it. And the low branches had already been picked clean.
Nature settled this long before we came along. The best fruit grows high, and so does the best view, and there is only one way to either one. Nobody gets handed the top of anything. You go up for it, or you stand underneath looking at it.
That is still the whole thing. The ground gets further away, the noise stops, and for a few minutes it is just you and what you are holding onto. Some people find it again on rock. Some find it in a gym on a Tuesday night. Same tree, higher branch.
We build for the way up. One bag that takes everything a session needs, sits on your hips while you climb, and still rides the bus home — because the climbing is the good part, and nothing should stand between you and it.
There was a cherry tree in the garden I grew up in. The good ones were always right at the top, and I do not think I ever really stopped climbing it. — CRACX co-founderRead our story →
Nobody's first session is on a boulder in a forest.
It starts on plastic, under a roof, badly. Then the circle gets wider — a harder grade, a different gym, a car park at first light, a block nobody has brushed in years. Every level you unlock hands you a bigger map.
That is the appeal, and it is the whole reason this bag exists.
- Step one Plastic and borrowed shoes A Tuesday night in a gym, a wall you have no business being on, and an hour that disappears. You leave with raw fingertips and a problem you cannot stop thinking about.
- Step two The first one that goes Weeks on the same four moves. Then one session your foot stays on, your hand finds the hold, and it goes. Nobody claps. It does not matter — you already know what you are trying next week.
- Step three Outside, for real Rock has no coloured tape on it. The holds are where they are, the landing is uneven, and the grade suddenly means something else entirely. This is where a gym climber becomes a boulderer.
- Step four The walk in Pad on your back, bag on your shoulder, a pin dropped by someone who found a good block. Forty minutes through trees. The session starts long before you touch anything.
- Step five The one nobody has touched Far enough out that there is no beta video, no chalk on the holds and no queue. Just a line, a brush and however strong you got. There is always another one further out.
Wherever you are on that list, the bag is the same. Gym floor, car park, forty minutes through trees — the Ascend was specified to still make sense at every one of them.

Check this spot. Looks like a good one.
Some people chase risk. That is not us. What gets us out of the door is the message that says found somewhere — big rock, decent shade, unreal view.
Getting stronger is not the goal, it is the key: the stronger you get, the more places open up to you. Higher, further, more remote, more beautiful. That is all it is for.
Everyone finds their own way into it. Some want the hardest problem in the gym, some want a boulder in a forest with nobody around. Both are the whole point.

They'll hand you the beta for a problem they haven't sent.
Climbing is the rare sport where the person next to you is not your opponent. They will give you the beta that unlocks the problem they are still projecting themselves. Nobody does that in a race.
The only thing you are up against is the version of you who came off this move on Tuesday. You blow the same heel hook forty times, you keep showing up, and one session it goes. Nobody hands you that one.
Work hard, play hard. Grind on the project, then sit on the pad with your crew and laugh about the way you fell off it. We build for both halves.
The X is the crux. Commit or come down.
Two lines crossing: the path you were handed, and the one you take. It is the move where a route stops being a warm-up and starts asking something of you. Spot the mark on a bag in a locker room and you know the person carrying it has stood at that move too.
Not for the mirror. You get stronger because there's a move on your project you can't do yet — and the day it goes, a whole crag opens up.
Pulling on is always a guess. Coming back Thursday after coming off on Tuesday is the skill nobody grades.
Rock doesn't check your grade, your gym or who you follow. Walk in, pull on, top out — that's the whole entry list. Carry light, go further out.
Straight answers
What do I get with a pre-order, and when does it ship?
Every pre-order ships with a free boar's hair climbing brush and a refillable chalk ball, packed inside the bag at the factory. The first production run ships in November 2026: you pay the early bird price today, we email you tracking the moment it leaves the warehouse, and you can cancel for a full refund any time before it ships.
Is the Ascend a chalk bag or a chalk bucket?
A bucket, and a gear bag at the same time. It stands open on the mat so you can chalk with both hands, and it carries your brushes, tape and a layer. If you mostly climb ropes and need to chalk mid-route, a small waist bag is the right tool — our guides say so plainly.
Does the roll-top really keep chalk in?
That is what it was built for. Roll the top down onto the two magnets and the chalk stays inside the bag rather than in your car, your gear and your black hoodie. The magnets also mean you can close it one-handed with chalk all over your fingers.
I am new to climbing. Is this overkill?
No. A bucket is the easiest way to start well: your chalk stays contained, your shoes and brush live in one place, and you are not buying a second bag in six months. If you are still deciding, our beginner guides are free and do not push the product.
Do you ship outside the US?
Not yet. The first run is US-only with free shipping. Join the list below and you will be first to know when we open other countries.
